Blizzard 2010

Some might think that a blizzard would make this construction site quiet - but they'd be wrong! Not only did we keep the playground busy, a few days later we saw the workers again, as well as discovering bunny prints. Looks like a little snow isn't stopping any of us!

The First Snow

Doesn't look like the snow is going to slow these guys down!

Keeping the Slides Warmed Up!

Rory wanted to make sure the slides were being maintained during the winter months. I think she's doing a great job!

I-Beams

We heard rumors that the steel I-Beams had been delivered to the school, so we ventured over to the other side (the parking lot side) to check it out. There were several large pallets, and we were excited to find them! Despite the cold weather, construction continues!

Ice

There were two cool things about the I-Beams that Will and I discovered. 1) When hit with a stick they produce a great sound. 2) They each had a thin layer of ice inside which is very cold!

Moat Filled In

Looks like it's not a castle after all! In other news, we can see some pipes sticking out of the ground... Plumbing, perhaps?

Insulation

Rory and I walked to the school this morning to take a look and we were lucky to get to watch the bulldozer for a while! This picture looks a lot like the last one, but if you look carefully you'll see the pink foam insulation going in around the cement foundation. The bulldozer appeared to be scoping dirt into the inside wall, not sure why yet!

Rocks

The rain has kept us away for a while, so we ran up this morning to grab a photo. It looks like they filled The Big Hole with some rocks. We will have to explore this development more closely soon!

The Hole

It's a little hard to see in this photo, but the hole where The Big Pile of Dirt came from can be seen in back of the bulldozer.

Level Ground

Today we noticed that all the rubble has been transported away and that the ground has been leveled. It looks very different than during the teardown. We're interested to see what happens next!

The Little Photographer

Today Rory was very excited about taking pictures, so she packed her camera too. She spent some time yelling "cheese" at the leveled dirt... After a few snapshots it appeared to have complied and she seemed satisfied with her work. Good job Rory!

"It's done!"

Rory has some thoughts on the construction too (pardon the messy shirt!).

Siding Torn Down

Thank YOU!

Rory and Will were excited to hear construction going on at the school last week, so we hurried to go see what was going on. We watched as they finished clearing the pavilion and the garden boxes.

Will asked "Where is everyone going to hurry to when it rains now?" He was excited to hear that the new students were going to get to have a covered exit from the new building.

I told Rory that the workers were building this new school for her. She shouted at the bulldozer, "Thank YOU!" We are excited!
